Mrs. Yeh's Guide for Behavior
I believe that establishing clear boundaries for behavior helps students understand what I expect of them. I refer to my rules as a "behavior guide" recognizing that students have the freedom to choose to follow them or deal with the consequences of not following them. While rules can be a serious subject, interjecting an element of comedy into explaining them helps students understand that I must enforce them, but I want them to enjoy themselves while they follow the rules. Typically, I model "how not to" follow the rules followed by a discussion of what went wrong. Then we talk about what happens as a consequence. The rules and consequences get posted for all students to see and refer to during the course of the day. Ideally, these rules and consequences will be used with the ClassDojo tracking system.
